Ordering a copy or scan
Are you unable to access an online article? Or do you require information from a book or paper journal that is unavailable for loan? In some situations we can provide you with a copy or scan. The documents are delivered via e-mail (PDF) or as a print by post. A charge is levied for this service.
Customer number
You do not need to be a member of the library to order a copy or scan. However, you do need to apply for a (free) customer number from Ask Your Library, our customer service.
For companies
Due to licensing restrictions we no longer deliver items from our digital collection. You can order scans of books or articles from paper journals only.
How to order
You can start by searching the collection using the search box at the top right. In the search results, you can see for each title whether the book or journal is available on paper. After logging in you click on the button “Request copy”. You will then be presented with an order form (already partially completed) in which you should enter your customer number.
If you already know the data relating to the article or book you need, you can also:
- Complete the form directly.
- Submit a request by post or e-mail, see Contact.
In this case you will be sent a print copy, not a PDF. - For urgent deliveries, call us on +31 (0)15 27 85678.
For non-profit organisations
You can order copies and scans from the entire collection and even request articles from the collections of other libraries.
How to order
If you want to use the search box at the top right, then it is a good idea to log in first. You can then see for each title whether it is possible to request a copy. If it is possible, please click on the button “Request copy” to access an order form (already partially completed) in which you should enter your customer number.
If you search via Google Scholar, then you can also click directly through to the application form via the TU Delft link. In order to do this, you must add TU Delft as a Library link in Google Scholar.
If you already know the data relating to the article or book you need, you can also:
- Complete the form directly.
- Submit a request by post or e-mail, see Contact.
In this case you will be sent a print, not a PDF. - For urgent deliveries, call us on +31 (0)15 27 85678.
Shortcuts for regular customers
Are you a regular customer of this service? Then you can have an application form incorporated in your own intranet. We will send you the specifications for a form which your staff can use to directly send a request to our system. Please contact one of our account managers to set this up.
Delivery times
We deliver copies or scans from our own collection within four working days (Mon-Fri). This is possible only if the request data are correct and if the material is available in our collection and not out on loan. If the copy needs to be obtained from another library or even from abroad, then the delivery time is longer and can no longer be guaranteed.
Urgent request
An urgent request is assigned priority, and you pay an extra charge for this.
- Indicate on the form that your request is "rush delivery".
- Make your request by telephone, at +31 (0)15-27 85678.
Urgent request from our own collection
- Ordered before 12:00 noon: delivered the same day.
- Ordered after 12:00 noon: delivered the following day.
- Should circumstances prevent this delivery time from being realised, we will inform you as quickly as possible.
Urgent requests from other collections
Do you need a copy urgently, but is the document not in our collection? Your request will be given priority. This involves an extra charge for you. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee a delivery time.
