Dutch Universities and Elsevier reach agreement in principle on open access

15 December 2015

In last week’s Open Access newsletter the Association of Universities in the Netherlands (VSNU) announced that an important step had been taken to comply with the objectives of both the Dutch government and the European Union: more sharing of knowledge with society, more publishing in Open Access.

With the current licences about to expire on January 1st, 2016, it seemed for a long time as if negotiations between VSNU and scientific information provider Elsevier would not reach a favourable conclusion in time, but last week an agreement in principle was reached allowing a gradual yearly increase in the percentage of articles to be published in Open Access in Elsevier journals without incurring double costs.

More details will become available in the near future. We will keep you informed. For current news, please follow TU Delft Library on Facebook and Twitter, or subscribe to the VSNU Open Access Newsletter
