The fourth edition of the seminar ‘Are you ready to publish? The importance of being open’ will take place on 20th of September 2017 at the Science Center.  

Who should attend?

The afternoon seminar is a great opportunity for starting authors and PhD candidates as well as postdoctoral researchers,  teachers and senior staff to hear what experts have to say on the impact in scholarly publishing.

What to Expect? 

A lot is involved when publishing an article. From choosing the audience, choosing a journal, dealing with reviewers, editors and publishers. And what about open access opportunities? You want to comply with the TU Delft requirements on Open Access but want to know how this will affect your academic impact at the same time. 

This seminar will lead you through the complex world of academic publication and researcher’s impact, and address the questions of those who are new to the realm of publishing, open access and open science. The seminar will bring to you the experts in the area of indicators of scholarly activity and evaluation highlighting both the benefits and challenges in adopting Open Access. Representatives from the publishers world will also present their perspective. Learn more about what ‘Open’ can mean for you, how TU Delft supports and promotes Open Science, and give us your feedback. 

All this in a lively atmosphere and informal discussion with fellow researchers and the following speakers:   

Dr. Thed van Leeuwen, senior researcher at the Centre for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS) of Leiden University

Dr. Laura M. Henderson, Editorial Program Manager, Humanities & Social Sciences and Physical Sciences & Engineering, Frontiers Media SA

Dr. Frank van der Hoeven, Director of Research of the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment and associate professor Urban Design at TU Delft.
