The Genius of Gerrit Rietveld

“The Genius of Gerrit Rietveld” can be seen from 10 July to 6 September 2012 at TU Delft Library (more information). The exhibition can also (partially) be seen online on this page.

Gerrit Thomas Rietveld became world famous for one house – the Rietveld-Schröder House – and one chair – the red-blue ‘Rietveld’ Chair. Yet apart from this, more than 100 houses were built to his designs, and he designed more than 350 pieces of furniture. The accent in this exhibition is on his furniture designs. These are the subjects:

The Genius of Gerrit Rietveld was put together with the help of:

  • Harry Hoek (Exhibition maker)
  • Charlotte van Wijk (Curator of the Chair Collection, Faculty of Architecture)
  • Ad Bercht (Information Specialist, TUDL)
  • Marietje Ruijgrok (Treasury, TUDL)
  • Henco Huijbregtsen (I&S-Arch., TUDL)
  • Marcel Janssen (Bindery, TUDL)
  • I&S and FMRE
  • Marion Vredeling (Coordination + design)
