What is Zotero?
Zotero is a Firefox add-on, which can:
- manage your literature references, both online and offline
- detect and import lists of references from websites and major databases
- take a snapshot of a website for future reference
- create a bibliography in HTML or in your text editor (MS Word, Open Office)
You can download and install Zotero from www.zotero.org.
How to use Zotero?

Follow these steps to use the programme:
- locate the website or references you want
- open Zotero by clicking on the logo in the Firefox status bar
- add the reference. Depending on the source:
- click the Zotero icon in the Firefox address bar or
- add the item using the Zotero tool bar
- alternatively, you can organise your references in Collections
- you might want to add personal tags, notes and links

Zotero can detect and import references from:
- TU Delft Library catalogue (Aleph)
- Web of Science
- Scopus
- Google Scholar
- many more...
