Open Access fund stimulates world-wide propagation of knowledge

TU Delft Library is supporting the world-wide propagation of knowledge via open access publication. An Open Access incentive fund has been set up to help with the financial side of Open Access publication.

Researchers will be able to apply to the fund for help with financing OA publication costs (OA author’s fees) until the end of 2008. All applications for a refund of the author’s fee for OA publications in peer-reviewed journals will be honoured until the fund runs dry. Our website provides more information on this subject and an order form for requesting a refund of the author’s fee.

Increase your quotation score via Open Access!
The academic world, as well as the rest of the world, benefits enormously if scientific research findings are published swiftly, widely and effectively. But Open Access publication also has numerous advantages for individual researchers and users, including a higher quotation score.

Misunderstanding and unfamiliarity
Many people are still unfamiliar with the concept of Open Access. There are also a lot of persistent misunderstandings, which lead to confusion and wariness. One of these misunderstandings is that OA publications only appear in dubious journals and that you will not earn ‘points’ for OA publications. Both assertions are incorrect.

Information for scientists, also on request!
TU Delft Library will spend the forthcoming period ensuring that scientists can find honest, straightforward information on the subject of Open Access. The first presentations were received with great enthusiasm! A presentation on the ins and outs of Open Access can be held for specific departments on request.
